Two Weeks Later, a Newsom Homeless Measure Still Hangs in the Balance
·1 min
California’s Proposition 1, a mental health ballot measure aimed at addressing homelessness, remains too close to call two weeks after Super Tuesday. The $6.4 billion bond measure, intended to fund housing and treatment for homeless people with mental illness or addiction, is hanging in the balance. The yes vote is currently ahead by fewer than 20,000 votes, with about 220,000 ballots yet to be counted. Efforts are underway to ‘cure’ mail-in ballots with mismatched signatures, which could potentially impact the outcome of not just Proposition 1 but other races as well.
